Apparently the Cardinals offered Brees a 2 year $60 million contract in 2018 before turning to Bradford. At least Keim tried to sign a better QB.

Before pledging to return to the Saints, the 41-year-old quarterback said for weeks that he would not entertain offers from other teams. Brees operated this way in 2018, when he received a two-year, $60 million offer from the Cardinals.

So Keim made an offer to a guy who wasn't entertaining any offers at the time? Fantastic.

He said he would not entertain offers from other teams THIS year, not in 2018. In 2018, according to the linked article, multiple teams made offers to Brees, including the Vikings and the mystery team, possibly the Cardinals, that offered him the fully-guaranteed $60M contract.

It clearly states: Brees operated this way in 2018

no problem offering Brees $30mm

its rebounding to "offering Bradford $20mm" that was the problem
Bradford was a total panic move. Just like trading up for Rosen was a desperate move after watching both KC and Houston trade up ahead of the Cardinals in the draft the year before to snatch Mahomes and Watson respectively.

Agreed, we did not have a QB on the roster at that time and it was a panic move.

The Bradford/Rosen fiasco is what brought us Kyler Murray and legit hope. So it sorta worked out in the end. Drafting Derwin James, Minkah Fitzpatrick or Vander Esch would've solved some of our most glaring issues that still persist, but I doubt we would've been in the position to draft Murray in this case.

That's what Keim should sing and pray each and every morning when he leaves his house.

No problem at all with Keim offering Brees a big deal. Can’t hurt to try. All he can do is say no. They were after Cousins too. Don’t why anyone would blame Keim for these 2 attempts.

now Bradford, that was a horrible “consolation” prize.
