The #AZCardinals are hiring #Lions director of college scouting Dave Sears as the assistant general manager under new GM Monti Ossenfort, sources say. A bit of a surprise, given two strong in-house candidates who interviewed for the GM job — Adrian Wilson and Quentin Harris.

He was Director of College Scouting for the Lions. He’s a nice get going into the draft. Since this is a promotion the Lions had to match or let him go. They had worked together with the Texans.

Lions have hit on more draft picks recently than people realise.

I like this move as it's someone he knows that he can delegate too that won't fall into old habits as Harris or Wilson would in the same role.

Not necessarily right away. Why wouldn't you want to stay a year or two and diversify your experience base? Notice the two new front office haunchos have worked for several organizations. It is important to have broad experience with how different teams run their scouting, player evalutions, etc. IMO

Sears does have a connection with new Cardinals GM Monti Ossenfort. The two cut their NFL teeth together with the Houston Texans in the early 2000s.

to be honest I don’t really care. I’m sure they’re nice guys and AW is a Cardinal legend but it’s time to start winning not be nostalgic.

NO disrepect to either guy however it may not be a bad thing. If your intent is to clean house and start fresh maybe it's time for them to go.
