The Arizona Cardinals haven’t had a great 2025 NFL season, but they have taken time to discover and expand on concepts and strategies that keep their offense afloat. Within their trials, wide receiver Michael Wilson has played exceptionally and will work as a force in the teams offensive personnel as they prepare for the Atlanta falcons in Week 16. Wilson spent most of the year flying under the radar, but nagging injuries to Marvin Harrison Jr. and quarterback Kyler Murray have allowed Wilson the opportunity to show himself as a solid No. 2 on the depth chart.
Wilson is tied at No. 18 in the NFL in total receptions, and that’s impressive considering that he's been playing with a backup quarterback for the majority of the season. Wilson and Harrison are both quality pass catchers who play as second and third options behind tight end Trey McBride in the team offense and this will be pivotal this afternoon as they look to defeat the Falcons. Wilson’s best game of the season came against the San Francisco 49ers in week 11 when he was targeted 18 times and caught 15 passes for 185 yards.
Ultimately, it’s all about utility for the Cardinals today, and as they reflect on what has been a miserable season, they need to take some initiative and consider what pieces they want to move forward with next season. Wilson has already proved that he belongs with the franchise and has surpassed wide receivers Greg Dortch and Zay Jones as the best secondary option in the passing game. Hopefully, fans will see Wilson light up the Falcons secondary in Week 16.
