Less value than Eno Benjamin
Remember, when so many here thought he was a star in the making lol (I mean, we all know it was the ASU roots) so many people here get clouded because somebody played at ASU….

I called it last week they expected him back and when that didn't happen 2 games after they expected him back it was obvious they weren't going to play him all year.

My guess is we'll eventually find out it was more than just the meniscus or a bigger tear than they originally felt. If I were a betting man I would bet money he ends up having another surgery on it.

Lotta talent but you gotta be able to stay healthy.

I don't think we can count on him next year as anything other than a competition back. With Conner gone, we probably need to draft a guy again.

I guess my concern is the knee he hurt his freshman year in college was his right knee and that's reportedly the knee he hurt his meniscus on. Which makes me suspicious it wasn't just the meniscus?

He had a Frank Gore type injury in college, ACL, MCL, LCL, even hurt the meniscus, the hamstring too. He eventually fully recovered and had 2 really good years but if he hurt the same knee and took this long to recover it makes me suspicious there's some connection?

Sad but true- what was supposed to be a strength this year got exposed as a huge weakness. We need a dominant back to take the reigns from Conner- benson isn’t that guy

I think there are enough solid RBs in free agency that can sustain the running game. The following players have produced when given the chance and maybe will more than provide a solid run game and not break the bank. In some cases, there are RBs who don't see much play because of the guy in front of them but did produce when the top guy went down. A few of these can fill roles. I don't think drafting a RB is necessary.

Emanuel Wilson GB
Kenneth Gainwell Pit
Tyler Allgeier Atl
Chris Brooks GB
Keaton Mitchell Balt
Sean Tucker TB

All these guys are young and don't have much thread wear.

Is 900 yards really good? Wouldn’t put him in the top 20 rushers this season?

Of course it was good he was considered one of teh best RB's in the country.

The problem is he can't stay healthy. But I said he had 2 very good years after the first surgery, he did.

In ‘23 he wasn’t among the top 20 rushers in the country by yardage? Is that “reallly good”?

Really good is a stretch. Those are decent numbers.

It's just the total carries but FSU had a QB who had 80 carries and 2 other RB's who had 90 carries. Benson wasn't limited in carries because of health, he was limited in carries because the team used multiple guys.

His stats were very comparable to Achane in 2022 in college, and were comparable with Bucky Irving both years

For him it's all about being able to stay healthy, it's never been about was he good enough

yes because he was considered one of the best RB's in the country and in the draft.

For example Maurice Jones Drew did a RB ranking before the draft, and ranked Benson the top RB in the draft. That included ranking him above Blake Corum, Bucky Irving, Tyrone Tracy, all of whom have played fairly well in the NFL.

The difference is Benson got hurt again.

Benson has been hurt two years in a row. That's unfortunate.
Nobody can have a firm opinion on if he's any good or not.
Actually being able to play is probably the first gate to being good. If you get injured every 50 touches, you better score a touchdown on 20% of them to be good.

Wasn’t top 20 in yards per attempt. How many FBS programs are there? If you’re not in the top 15% of producers how can you be really good?

Achane wasn't in the top 20 either was he not really good? He was 65th on the list in 2022, Benson was 21 so clearly Achane wasn't very good either.

Guys who actually get paid to evaluate people, like Drew who did that for NFL.com, had Benson rated the best RB in the draft.

His issue is injuries not talent.
