We almost did the same thing with Love.

Can you imagine?

I don't think we did? They've told us twice now in telecasts that TA was told before he signed as a FA that if Love was on the board we were picking him so I don't think we tried to trade out?

What's annoying me the most is that MLF seems to think he can game manage us to wins. Like this team has enough on defense to just dink and dunk and get into 3rd and short on every set of downs.

He needs to understand the only chance of winning that we have is to make the most of the talent we have on offense and to call plays accordingly. I don't particularly like our run game, it's all power/gap and I don't think we have the O line talent to for everyone to consistently block their guys 1 on 1. I'd like to see much more zone blocking in our run game. We need to get more out of Marv, and have a bit more variety in our passing game which can't always be JB hoping a pocket holds up long enough for him to pass more than 5 yards.

Our pass rush is awful. Letting CC walk (if the option was there to resign him) was a huge mistake as Walt doesn't look nearly the same threat without someone else inside that can rush. Sweat is washed, just a complete non entity, which shouldn't be surprising for a 30 year old rusher that's always relied on speed.

But we pretty much new the D would be an issue. The offense needs to step up and not only start playing in the 2nd half.

There's no deep threat on offense been saying it for years now. Nobody is afraid we're going to run by them.

Mike Sando's Pick Six column in The Athletic this week had a couple of paragraphs on Brock Purdy and Shanahan's system - which also, unfortunately, reflect on the Cards' D:
Purdy averaged 11.0 yards per attempt while passing for 297 yards and four touchdowns without a sack or turnover against the Cardinals. His EPA per pass play (0.83) was the highest by any 49ers quarterback with at least 25 attempts in a game this century. That's first out of 342 total games. (Last week, he posted 1.06 EPA per pass play on 22 attempts against Miami.)

For those who might credit coach Kyle Shanahan's system, there is this: A Nick Mullens game from 2020 ranks second on that 342-game list, while a C.J. Beathard game from 2017 ranks eighth. Let's just say it: Purdy is a very good quarterback functioning at a high level in a great system

If you have the ball trailing by 3 points it is one thing. But we never had the ball trailing by three points after the opening kickoff.

It's irrelevant.

Garbage time is time you have zero chance of winning the game and are just stat padding. The fact that we got back within 3 and was onside kicking to get the ball back is diametrically opposed to the idea of garbage time.

Michael Wilson accounted for 49.39% of the Cardinals’ total air yards in Sunday’s loss to the 49ers, per @ZebraTechnology.

To a degree yes, but no. Any given Sunday. We lost to a hook and ladder. Upsets happen all the time, including these first 3 weeks. Even Chiefs were sweating it in Miami.

KC won by 14 points.

We had no chance when we were attempting the onside kick.

Fun stat from the game. Deebo had the 3rd most receiving yards between both teams, but had ZERO receptions.

People intimating that this game was close are the same ones who watch NBA games and are surprised when the better team pulls away at the end.

I can't imagine this is true. I heard but thought that Monti must be the dumbest human ever if he's telling a newly signed FA what he is going to do with the 3rd overall pick. JFC that's inconceivable to me.

I don't know but it's been stated as fact on 2 of our 3 games now. And it was BEFORE TA signed they wanted him to know up front what he was getting into which I think is fair.

Garbage time why? Because we were 17 down? There was a ton of time still to go. I guess I prefer to look at it as continuing to fight to get back in the game. Which happened.
Ya they should have just quit. You know because players don't have incentives in their contracts or anything.
