Speaking of Dan Williams, tomorrow's game should be an opportunity for him to really show us his mettle given Dockett's situation. Hope he comes through for us.

They dont play anywhere near the same position or have the same duties. Dont see how Dockett being gone gives him a chance to step up??

Welcome back Mitch. I hope your sabatical gives you a fresh approach to posting here. We all miss your keen observations, and your dedication as a Cardinals fan. Most of all we love your beautiful prose.

Just to inject a little piece of candor into this post, I couldn't help noticing that is was Brian in Mesa who injected into this perfectly civilized post, that you and your students need to have a thicker skin if you wish to post on this board. I simply don't see that as the answer, as it is EXACTLY this kind of mentality that encourages posters here to bash anyone with whom they disagree. The fact that he is a moderator on this board, and thus posters look to him to see how it is done, is precisely why someone in his position should not provide ANY sort of reason, (or even a hint of encouragement), for anyone to continue distasteful conduct directed at ANY poster. This is an abohrant stand for anyone in authority to take in my opinion. I find it offensive.

Mitch, you put nothing but love into this post, as did all of the respondents, save one. To have a moderator, (of all people), tell you and your students to grow a thicker skin is simply shameful. It is one thing to have a couple of posters exchange friendly barbs with each other. It is completely different to not only allow, (but to encourage) bashing that has nothing to do with friendliness. How can anyone expect the posters on any board to remain civil with each other, when the moderators themselves seem to be the very people who encourage the practice? I join your friends in welcoming you back.

I just want to say, great job by Brian in Mesa trying to moderate such widely different opinions on this board. It is a tough job being a moderator. You can't ban every questionable post and keep the communication flow going. Certainly personal fouls on the forum, like in football, should be called but not every call is going to be clear cut.

Nice to have you back Mitch. I missed your posts.

Saw several Eagles fans in green Kolb jerseys. Talked with more than one Eagles fan that was griping about Vick and wanted Kolb back because they remember flashes of solid QB play when he had filled in for Vick in the past.

That's cool. Am pumped about Kolb right now, cautiously optimistic even. However, Vick is twice the qb Kolb is, IMO. That said, Kolb's our boy now, new dad, so good thoughts his way for tomorrow and beyond ...

I have a football comment.

It seemed to me that Rhodes took over Adrian Wilson's role as the wildcard blitzer. I know rich has been critical of Rhodes in the past. Maybe the issue isn't Rhodes desire but the role he is playing in the defense?

No he didn't. its been documented even on the Cards website.

You are correct. He had only 7 snaps against the Patriots. Not much more against Philly, having had only 11 snaps.

That amount may go up though with a more run oriented team like the Dolphins though. One of the few teams in football that has more rushing attempts then passing.

Good point. The way he smashed into Vick causing the fumble... Textbook

In what way? You could make this argument two years ago, but right now, Vick looks like he's on a slippery slope and needs to figure out what kind of QB he will be as he ages. Is he a pocket passer or can he still make plays with his feet? As it stands, his rushing YPC is at a career low, he's completing 55% of his passes, and has 6 picks to go along with 5 fumbles (!).

While not passing for a ton of yards, Kolb has a higher TD% (6.8% to 2.4%), higher YPA (7.3 to 7.2), significantly higher completion % (64% to 55%), no picks, and only one fumble to his credit.

Today? I'll take Kevin Kolb over Vick, and would not bat an eye (and any level-headed Eagles fan would ask for backsies on last season's trade).

I understand those stats. But obviously not whether some played less or than 8 snaps in a game. :) You're not alone In your thinking. I've heard it expressed by a coup,e of the talking heads recently. So to the degree that you state "today" i get you. My thinking, let's not get too excited about Kolb who has simply been Alex Smith solid. And its only three games. Vick has played, and I believe still capable, of playing at an elite level which I don't ever see Kolb attaining. I think Vick's poor ply thus far is partially a matter of the o-line and perhaps Andy Reid being emotionally spent. I anticipTe Ealgles will turn it around and i anticipate Vick having a strong second half of the season. I'd take him over Kolb.

Plus you have that ever-present concussion issue lingering around Kolb. Injuries and Vick too, but damn he's tough. Concussions, toughness has no bearing.

I'm certainly not a Vick fan but he sure took a lickin from the Cardinals defense. Kolb neither could nor should be subject to take such a pounding nor most NFL quarterbacks.

It's only 21 times. It's listed on the ASFN home page.

Interesting. Especially when you consider Rhodes had his best game since 2010 and maybe best ever as a Cardinal last Sunday.

Yeah but Vick brought a lot of that on himself by holding the ball too long and not audibling out of plays when the Cards kept bringing the heat.

He took a beating but he could have done a lot more to stem the tide IMO.

Well we have heard Dockett make similar comments in the past that the scheme doesn't always maximize his talent but what he is doing helps others make plays.

Could be similar here. I wonder if Wilson is playing?

He is questionable -- I would bet he plays with Dockett and others likely to sit (though I think he was questionable last week).

Here is the injury report, for those who haven't seen it:
