Given Nkemdiche's injury, do we need to negotiate a settlement to cut him for cap relief this year and if so when is the ideal time to save the most money/ How much can we save?

Not much and not worth the loss of control of an asset in the next offseason. If he plays well, the Cards would have an exclusive window to negotiate a new deal before the opening of 2020 business year.

They're not picking up his fifth year option either

We need the depth this year, and its virtually already paid for, so might as well keep him for now.
Won't be back next year most likely, unless he goes full hero this year.

So far, it's been such a waste.

Nkemdiche has a $2.7m cap charge this year

he was hurt last year, so, prior to training camp, he would fail his physical and the the team could cut him.

they would save $1.6mm net after taking a $1.1mm dead money charge for him

Since he was hurt in late December last year and recovery time is generally a year getting anything contribution from him is a longshot.Even if he does recover in time to play a few games.....he is pretty much a non-factor when he is 100% so what help can he be playing tentatively?

OTC says 1.1 in dead money and 1.6 in cap savings, so effective net savings of $500k?

We aren’t cutting him right now. No chance.
1) We are thin on the Dline
2) If he comes back and plays great, he could earn us a nice comp pick

At this point, it would be better for Keim to--once again--buy high and sell low. :( Maybe he should've tried to trade NK for a pick in the draft, for example to the Pats for say a 4th or 5th round pick?

Sorry but good healthy players get traded for 4th’s and 5ths. At best, I’d say we could’ve gotten a conditional 6th in 2020 If he comes back in November and finishes with 4-5 sacks, he will get paid.

So sad that all we got in three seasons were 27 games played, 25 solo tackles, 16 assist, 4.5 sacks, 9 TFL, and 1 FF. Pathetic.

I believe only years 1-4 are guaranteed outside of bonus.

I wish I could make $7 Million for sucking ass at my job for four years. :D

Well, this is his fourth season. The fifth-year option is guaranteed for injury only, which is a reason that we maybe didn't pick up Bob's.

Wendell Bryant though three seasons played in 29 games, 39 tackles, 28 solo, 1.5 sacks, and 5 TFLs.

From this perspective, Bob is playing better than a Top 15 pick.

A bust playing better than another bust is not impressive.
