Caitlin Clark Makes Unwanted WNBA History After Indiana Fever Lose in Her Return originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever have dropped to 9-10 on the 2025 WNBA season after falling to the Golden State Valkyries 80-61 on Wednesday afternoon.

Clark had missed the Fever's previous five games due to a groin injury, and 10 overall in 2025, and showed a little bit of rust upon her return. Against the Valkyries, the former Iowa star tallied 10 points on 4-of-12 shooting and 2-of-5 from 3-point range, five rebounds and six assists. This was surprisingly her best shooting performance since mid-June.

In her last three games, dating back to the June 19 loss to Golden State, Clark shot 1-of-23 from 3-point range, a disappointing 4.3%. Including Wednesday's loss to the Valkyries, Clark is 3-of-28 from distance, a slight improvement to 10.7%.

Still, Clark’s 10.7% shooting from 3-point range was historically poor, marking the worst percentage over a four-game span in WNBA history with a minimum of 25 attempts.

Clark’s shooting slump has been uncharacteristic for the two-time All-Star. Through 10 games this season, she’s shooting 30.1% from three, nearly triple her efficiency over her last four games. During her rookie WNBA season, she shot 34.4% from beyond the arc, and across 139 games at Iowa, she averaged 37.7%.

Clark is still having a solid season despite her recent shooting woes. She is averaging 17.4 points on 38.6% shooting, 5.0 rebounds and 8.6 assists per game. She also, unsurprisingly, led the WNBA in All-Star votes for a second straight year.

Up next for Clark and the Fever, a battle with the Atlanta Dream on Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
