Jason Licht has been very active this offseason in reshaping this Bucs roster so it can achieve more than just NFC South division titles. He wants more and now this team is ready to do just that, but could it use one more piece to their puzzle?

According to Matt Bowen of ESPN, the Bucs could sign a veteran defensive back, Justin Simmons, who could make sense for the team.

He argues, ". . .Simmons fits really well as an interchangeable safety opposite Antoine Winfield Jr. in Todd Bowles' defense. The Bucs played the most zone coverage in the league last season (71.7% of the time), and Simmons can spin to the post or walk down in Cover 3. He's an excellent communicator with field awareness. Simmons has picked off 32 passes over his nine-year career, including two last season."

Simmons grew up in Stuart, Florida, which is just under three hours away from Tampa Bay, so it would be a sort of homecoming for the veteran safety.

Simmons is a former All-Pro and Pro Bowler from his time with the Denver Broncos. While he is not the same player he once was at age 31, he still flashes some brilliance and could be helped by playing alongside someone with the talent of Winfield Jr.

It would be a worthwhile move by Jason Licht and one that is down his alley by taking chances on veterans.
