Unbelievable. Just back from a shoulder/elbow injury on his shooting arm and he only took 7 shots all night. The 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocks don't count. And the next post says he didn't shoot because he's "selfish."
Amazing... Marion haters are amazing...

Boris played his best game of the season tonight. He has been bashed badly on these boards and most of the time has deserved it wtih subpar play. There are a lot of Boris haters but we are all Suns fans. There does not appear to be a trade out there that can improve the team. Our best hope is that Boris will play better. He will get more chances to play with hill out. He is the most frustrating player on the team. He does not suck but we know how well he is capable of playing but has not shown it. Tonight he looked like he was worth that contract. He was making all the righ decisions and when he puts his mind to it he has excellent moves to the hoop

how am I hating on him. I think its funny because I've seen him do it several times. Its either because he doesn't want to mess up his percentage or he dribbles with his head down and has no idea how much time is left.

I'm pointing out something that was funny to me. Not calling the guy selfish.

Marion doesn't attempt long distance buzzer beaters, its hard on the 3pt %. knowwhatimsayin?

exactly, he tried acting like he didn't know the buzzer was that soon. selfish....

I didn't mention haters, but the shoes appear to fit -- damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. Keeping some perspective on it, the anti-Marion mindset is so relentless and spiteful it's getting almost comical. In a juvenile sort of way ........... "knowwhatimsayin?"

I'd take issue with that comment as well. I've seen all but two games this year, either at USAC or at home. C'mon now, Marion almost never dribbles the ball upcourt "with his head down" and then spots up for a three, he usually hands it off ASAP. I don't even think he likes shooting the 3's all that much. Most of his attempts are made when he gets the ball and he's open. Last night he had one open and passed it because he knew his shot was off. Selfish SOB.

forget the elbow injury, he ALWAYS does that. i like marion, but he is selfish.

he once told ESPN the mag that Nash might be the MVP of the league, but he is the MVP of this team. he demanded to be traded because he doesn't think he is respected, he is the highest payed player on the team, he makes the all star team every year, and his jersey's are every where around teh stadium and this city.

and again...

In the last 3-4 years, Suns record without Marion implies that HE IS atleast a co-MVP in this team...

Marion is very important for the Suns.. so he is not lying...

***The numbers are all correct except for Marion. Your Suns All-Time Regular Season Leaders page is clearly noted "heading into the 05-06 season." None of the other four were Suns after that. They included Marion's 290 attempts throughout the 05-06 season and his total should actually be 1196. You can check it out, I'm not making that up.

Even so, numerical "leaders" are misleading since longevity is a factor. So your stats showing him as 3-happy are rather skewed since years spent on the team prior to 05-06 do make a difference.

Person (3 years) = 331/year
Majerle (8 years) = 275/year
Chapman (4 years) = 224/year
JJ (4 years) = 222/year
Marion (6 years) = 199/year

It would be interesting to break it down more but I'm not that bored. Since he rarely misses games and plays heavy minutes, I suspect Marion's 3pt attempts per game and per minutes played might strike you as even less hilarious, especially since they've decreased significantly in 05-06 and 06-07.

you may not be making up your stats, but they are wrong.

through today, yahoo sports and nba.com says that he has attempted 1,862 three pointers. that is too many, because he has only made 636, good for 34.2%. his highest single season total for percentage was 39.3% in 2001 when he only took 122 three's. he has taken 124 already this season. he is 3 happy, he needs to realize 3's are not his game.

Good game offensively from the Suns. :) Defensively...bleh. :p

Playing only 1 quarter of defense (or less) isn't gonna cut it against good teams.

Great game from Boris. :) But can he on doing it?

I'm surprised D'Antoni played Banks again after the Jazz game.

Ah, now we're talking through today? You were not quoting numbers "through today" in the earlier post you used to prove your point.
The numbers you copied and posted were from this site: http://www.nba.com/suns/history/00826409.html
Again, at the top of that list of all-time leaders it says: "(heading into the 2005-2006 season)." Marion's stats for 05-06 were included so that number was wrong, off by 290. And that was my point.

I would agree that 3's are not Marion's "game" because his game includes a lot more than 3's. Still, his career % isn't bad at .342 when you look at Majerle's career .358. Nobody ranted about the 5-9 Shawn made in the Nuggets game (when he took the shots instead of worrying about his stats and being selfish). :)
