Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix had an excellent -- but not perfect -- rookie season in 2024.

After the Broncos were knocked out of the NFL playoffs by the Buffalo Bills, Nix was asked where he looked to improve going into his second season. Nix initially said it was a "loaded question" before expounding a bit.

"That’s going to be a lot of the self-scouting I do this offseason," Nix said following the 2024 season. "Right off the top is just understanding the difference in NFL and what I learned this year with red zone and third downs. Those are the most important parts of the game, and so I feel like the red zone and third down areas on the field are where I can make growth, and understand, be a little bit more aware of certain situations.

"Just different football topics that I can learn from just within the reps that I had this year. Just what can I do differently for next year and keep us on the field for longer.”

The Broncos converted 39.6% of their third-down attempts last season. That ranked 13th out of 32 teams. It wasn't bad, but it could be better. Denver converted 61.40% of its red-zone trips into touchdowns, which ranked ninth. Again, not bad, but there's room for improvement.

Nix showed signs of progress throughout his rookie season, and it's reasonable to assume he will take another step forward in 2025. He was asked after his rookie season where he improved the most.

“That’s a great question," Nix said. "Definitely just the huddle operation, and getting calls in. Whether it’s changing a call mid-huddle, getting guys orchestrated, getting them lined up and making sure we’re all running the same thing. Breaking the huddle, cadence, the whole process of the pre-snap that’s different from college. I think as each game went on, I felt more comfortable with that and got better at it.”

Following a full offseason as the team's established starter, Nix will look to put into practice everything he learned last season. He had a good rookie season. Now the 25-year-old QB will look to have an even better sophomore campaign.
