The San Francisco 49ers have had a relatively quiet offseason so far, with their biggest move giving tight end George Kittle a four-year, $76.4 million extension, keeping him with the team through the 2029 season.

Other than that, their largest free agent contracts handed out went to tight end Luke Farrell (three years, $15.7 million) and backup quarterback Mac Jones (two years, $8.4 million).

However, in an article for The Athletic, Mike Jones revealed that it's just a matter of time until the 49ers get an extension agreed to with quarterback Brock Purdy.

"Purdy is expected to wind up with a contract that will pay him around $50 million per season and places him among the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league.... It now seems like a matter of when, not if, Purdy gets paid," Jones wrote.

Of course, in his three seasons with the team, Purdy has put up solid numbers, completing 722-of-1,069 passes for 9,518 yards, 64 touchdowns, 27 interceptions and a 104.9 passer rating.

It would obviously be quite the increase compared to Purdy's four-year, $3.7 million rookie contract, which is set to expire at the end of the 2025 season.
