The Carolina Panthers will start their organized team activities (OTAs) on Tuesday—with the first of six voluntary, non-contact practices. And although these sessions are relatively light, they're still pretty important.

So before the Panthers begin this next stage of their offseason, let's dive into what we should expect and what we should keep an eye on in the coming weeks.

Starting center competition

The Panthers brought back Austin Corbett and Cade Mays this spring, both of whom started at center in 2024. The former, before sustaining a season-ending biceps injury in Week 5, manned the position quite admirably while the latter filled in and made quite an impression.

Regardless of who eventually claims the job, Corbett and Mays give the offense depth and versatility on the interior line. But this could be the biggest competition for Carolina this offseason.

What will the Panthers do at safety?

Carolina came away from April with a handful of new safeties, including fourth-round pick Lathan Ransom. They haven't, however, added a true free safety to the roster this offseason.

The possibility of signing a veteran free agent such as Julian Blackmon or Marcus Williams may still be alive. That would not only provide a proven presence on the backend, but also raise the floor and mix in more competition at the spot.

For now, Tre'von Moehrig is the only obvious starter at safety—with Ransom, Demani Richardson and Nick Scott in the mix for the second job.

Bryce Young and his new weapons

Quarterback Bryce Young comes into OTAs after an impressive 10-game run to end his 2024 campaign. He'll look to keep the good times rolling with some new weapons in 2025.

His shiniest new toy is the 6-foot-4 wideout Tetairoa McMillan, the eighth overall pick of this year's draft. The Panthers also selected tight end Mitchell Evans in the fifth round and speedy receiver Jimmy Horn Jr. in the sixth.

They'll join last year's group of rookie pass catchers—Xavier Legette, Jalen Coker and Ja'Tavion Sanders.

We'll start to see which youngsters Young can really gel with.
