STING VS. ROUGHNECKS: GAME PREVIEW
Arizona Looking for 3-0 Start in ‘06
The Arizona Sting will be looking to start their season with three straight wins on Friday when the Calgary Roughnecks come to town for a rematch of last year’s West Division Final.
The last time these teams met, the Sting beat the Roughnecks 19-15 in Calgary to capture the West Division title on April 30, 2005. The Sting are 2-6 against Calgary all-time in the regular season. Both of their victories have been on home turf.
Rookie forward Matt Brown is looking forward to his first match against Calgary on Friday and recognizes the Roughnecks as being a worthy adversary.
“Calgary has traditionally been a tough team to play against,” said Brown. “They have a lot of talent and play really tough and physical. This is a huge opportunity for our team to gain some ground in the West, so hopefully we can keep up our winning streak.”
Currently sitting atop the West Division, the Sting have beaten Toronto 14-13 on the road and Portland 12-7 at home to earn their undefeated mark. Jonas Derks currently leads the team in scoring after registering 8G-7A-15P thus far in the ’06 campaign.
