We predicted last week that Arizona would go into Phoenix Municipal Stadium and win its series against Arizona State, and sure enough, it happened. Nothing against the Sun Devils. It's just that no one accorded the No. 1 spot in this year's Big 12 power rankings has been able to hold it for long — lately, for no more than a week, because that team loses its next series.

And so the pattern continues.

The actual Big 12 standings are oh so tight with No. 22 Kansas on top, and five teams trailing the Jayhawks by one game.

Among that large cluster, we think Arizona, based on the opponents the Wildcats have beaten in conference play, has the edge. So back to the top of the power rankings the Wildcats go for the second time this season. Let's see if they can hold it longer than last time.

Here are this week's power rankings. Records and statistics are through Sunday's games.
