We are one week removed from the firing of Michigan head football coach Sherrone Moore, and Warde Manuel and company are continuing their search for the next man in charge.
We’ve heard about several candidates for the job over the last week, so now that we have a bit more clarity on the coaches that the Wolverines are interested in, the Vegas betting odds have shifted a bit regarding who will inevitably land the job.
According to BetOnline, the betting favorite to be named the next head coach of Michigan is Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham (-150). Washington head coach Jedd Fisch (+110) and Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer (+550) aren’t too far behind. Other names of interest with betting odds include Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter (+1,400), Michigan interim head coach Biff Poggi (+2,000) and Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm (+3,300).
Bookies.com also updated their betting odds a couple days ago, with Fisch (+350) leading the way over there. Dillingham (+500), DeBoer (+650), Vanderbilt head coach Clark Lea (+1,100), Minter (+1,100), and Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz (+1,500) are other coaches of note.
Fisch was the betting favorite last week when the odds initially came out, but things are beginning to flip in favor of Dillingham after rumors began floating around on Tuesday that Fisch is out of the running for the job. It’s unclear why that would be or if Fisch truly is out of the running, but it appears steam is starting to pick up with Dillingham once again, especially following another non-answer when asked if he’d be at ASU next year.
