The Cincinnati Bengals are under fire from all sides again, with the shine of re-signing receivers Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins already spoiled.
So it goes when an organization with a reputation like Cincinnati's suddenly has one of the only first-round picks in the NFL watching from the sidelines during rookie minicamp because the front office reportedly low-balled basic things on his contract.
Also, so it goes when a superstar like Trey Hendrickson puts out a scathing message through reporters to clap back against reports that things between him and the team are fine.

The Bengals can't win these battles in the court of public opinion, especially while remaining silent against what are player-driven reports here, yes.
But, the fact the Bengals keep seeming like the only team dealing with these issues so consistently isn't lost on fans and the wider NFL audience, either. Some reactions:

This is getting old. The Bengals are a joke. I think we need to start organizing a boycott

I assume it went something like this:
Last offseason: “We can’t/don’t want to do a deal now, but we’ll make you right next offseason and get it done early.”
Player has great season…
This offseason: Lowball offer and/or crickets.
Pay a fair price early or pay top dollar…

Once again… NO-body alienates its stars worse than the Cincinnati Bungals
They did this to Andrew Whitworth, now they’re about to do it again to Trey Hendrickson, AKA the only guy in your team who can reliably get after the QB
This organization is a freaking CIRCUS https://t.co/bb5SQAi7hz

You lose Trey Hendrickson and you immediately have the worst pass rush in the league

Trey Hendrickson has been well worth every penny since joining the Bengals.
Quit messing around. Grow up. Pay him or trade him to the highest bidder. This whole saga has been exhausting because the Bengals are cheap and archaic in how they do things.

This is my last Trey post for tonight.
Duke Tobin two months ago acknowledged Trey Hendrickson has outplayed his contract and deserved a raise.
Stop expecting him to give you a discount. With the help of his agent he has given you one hell of a bargain over the past two year.
