You can count new Chicago Bears wide receivers coach Antwaan Randle El as someone who is very excited to work with Rome Odunze. In fact, he may be the most excited out of any new coach on the staff based on his recent remarks about the second-year receiver.

The Bears' assistant coaches met with the media on Thursday, and when it was Randle El's time, he didn't shy away from his praise for Odunze as he discussed his personal rankings for the 2024 receiver class. "Last year, everyone had Marvin Harrison Jr. No. 1...then Malik Nabers...I had Rome [Odunze] No. 1," he said via CHSN's Alex Shapiro.

Going into last year's draft, Odunze was considered one of the top three receivers coming out of college, along with Harrison and Nabers, each of whom was drafted before him. The former Washington star had a productive start to his pro career, catching 54 passes for 734 yards and three touchdowns. Odunze's 734 receiving yards were the most by a Bears rookie receiver since Willie Gault's 836 in 1983.

Now, he will get to work with Randle El, who is a rising name in coaching circles thanks to his work with the Detroit Lions receivers. Randle El spent the last four seasons working with Ben Johnson on Detroit's offense, developing players like Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams. When Johnson was hired as the Bears' next head coach, Randle El followed him, returning to his hometown.

The expectation under Johnson is that Chicago's offense reaches new heights with second-year quarterback Caleb Williams. Randle El will be tasked with getting the most out of the receiving corps, and if his comments are any indication, it seems Odunze could be primed for a breakout season.
