The Chicago Bears are finalizing their preparations for the 2025 NFL draft, which concludes with top 30 pre-draft visits this week.
According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Bears are hosting Texas A&M edge rusher Shemar Stewart and Iowa running back Kaleb Johnson for pre-draft visits this week at Halas Hall. Stewart met with Chicago on Monday -- along with North Carolina running back Omarion Hampton -- while Johnson is slated to visit no later than Wednesday, which is the final day for visits.
The Bears are looking to improve their pass rush, as evidenced by the free-agent addition of Dayo Odeyingbo to pair with Montez Sweat. But they shouldn't be done, as there's questions of depth behind them. Stewart would be a great selection should Chicago elect to trade back from 10th overall in the first round.
Last season with the Aggies, Stewart totaled 31 tackles, including six tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble and two pass breakups in 12 games.
There's also belief that the Bears will be looking to add to their running back room in the draft. While Ashton Jeanty has been a popular mock pick -- even Hampton, who had his pre-draft visit this week -- Johnson is a Day 2 option for Chicago to consider. New head coach Ben Johnson established a 1-2 punch at running back with the Detroit Lions, and perhaps Johnson could pair with D'Andre Swift in Chicago.
Last season with the Hawkeyes, Johnson had a career year with 240 carries for 1,537 yards and 21 touchdowns while adding 22 receptions for 188 yards and two scores.
