Coming into Week 15 against the Cleveland Browns, Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson was very vocal about getting the passing game, and the offense as a whole, off to a faster start.
Even in the bitter cold temperatures, the Bears did just that with a healthy balance of both their pass and run offense, with quarterback Caleb Williams throwing for 242 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions in the 31-3 win.
Williams has not reached the mark of 70% completion that his head coach had set out for him this season, and while he only hit 60% in the win over Cleveland, the second-year quarterback made some remarkable throws. Following the game, Johnson spoke about how Williams made some special throws in the game and that he was able to lead his receivers to more big play opportunities with run after the catch.
"Did I see that today? Yeah, once again, I've got to go back and look at it," Johnson said when asked about Williams' accuracy in the win. "Sometimes my perspective doesn't always show that for me. But yeah, I thought he did a good job finding some open guys, and it didn't feel like we had a little bit more run after catch here this week than maybe what we've had over the last few weeks. Usually that's a good sign."
He may have not reached a high completion percentage in the game, but Williams' play was noticeably better than the last couple of weeks. There's no better time for Chicago's quarterback to find a rhythm and groove in his game, with just three games left and the Bears fully locked in the mix for the NFC playoff race.
