Caleb Williams has dominated headlines following a report from ESPN's Seth Wickersham where last year's first overall pick initially considered extreme measures to avoid being drafted by the Chicago Bears. It eventually became a non-issue once Williams accepted playing for the Bears, but the discussion has continued.

But head coach Ben Johnson wasted no time addressing the issue as he opened his Wednesday press conference directly confronting the reports about Williams, where he shared his thoughts and essentially made it clear that it's a non-issue.

"It's come to my attention that the quarterback has been in the media the last few days," Johnson said. "I wasn’t here last year so I can't speak too much about what it was like last year, but with my four months on the job he's been outstanding to work with.”

As for the assumption that Chicago is "where quarterbacks go to die," Johnson is embracing the challenge of rewriting the narrative -- starting with Williams.

"I love it," Johnson said. "I love it. I love the opportunity to come in and change that narrative. That's where great stories are written."

This isn't the first time that Johnson has addressed the Williams report. He appeared on "The Herd" last week with Colin Cowherd, where he flipped the script on Williams' initial fears of coming to a franchise known for ruining quarterbacks.

But after Williams wasn't made available following Wednesday's practice, Johnson took the time to address it before the media was even able to ask the question, which is something his predecessor Matt Eberflus never would've done.
