During Game 1 of the Diamondbacks-Cubs National League Division Series, a Steve Bartman look-a-like was shown on the giant screen in centerfield. Could the real guy be there tonight?
The KDKB (93.3 FM) Morning Show team of J.R. and Marci evidently had the real Bartman on their program Thursday, and they offered him airfare, game tickets and hotel accomodations to Game 2 tonight at Chase Field.
You may recall Bartman is the notorious Cubs fan blamed for a Chicago loss to the Florida Marlins in Game 6 of the 2003 National League Championship Series when he tried to grab a foul ball that Chicago outfielder Moises Alou might have caught.
Or not.
Anyway, we attempted twice to contact the folks at KDKB to determine if Bartman is actually going to show up. They didn't return the calls, but issued a news release saying that they were awaiting confirmation that Bartman will attend. However, J.R. and Marci said on the show that they had agreed not to say where Bartman will be sitting, and that he agreed to wear a Diamondbacks hat. They didn't seem entirely convinced that he would actually show.
Why the guy would subject himself to something like this, we can't imagine. But you'll know it if he's at the game.
Just look for a dogpile of wild-eyed Cubs fans. He'll be the dude under the pile.
