Reality???
Regression???
Disregards???
We've added experienced former starters in Bradley, Holiday, Marshall, and a productive backup in Eason. We have Williams and Washington into their second year. Schofield fully healed. Solid contributors in Lenon and Haggans, and hopefully a bounce back year from Porter. We drafted Peterson, Acho, Sturdivant, Carter to add to the mix. Wilson won't be the first to play with a bicep tear, and the tandem of him and Rhodes is solid. Jefferson was a steal a few years back it would seem.
etc., etc,. etc.
This is the reality to date, and we'll see reality one way or the other in the months to come.
the above doesn't real seem like "reality" to me... moe like wishful thinking/best case scenario. Jefferson's a steal? The reality is he's a 2nd year guy who was undrafted and completely unproven going into this season. Lenon and Haggans are solid contirbutors? That's stretching it a little don't you think? Lenon is best suited as a back-up and Haggans was no great shakes last year and is a year older at 34. And reality is a "bounce-back" year for Porter? The guy was awful last year, is a year older and looks awful so far again this year. That's the reality.
Now we did add Bradley, Holiday and Eason for depth which is good. I'll give you that reality. And Williams and Washington and Schohawk all showed flashes and are headed into their second years which is the reality. But every team has a draft who they added... and likely most, if not all of those players will take at least a year, if not two to develop. That's reality in the NFL, especially in a year where they basically had no OTA/Training camp.
As far as the rest of reality, we already saw what a banged up AW did last year (which was not much) and we already lost a starting CB for the season. That's reality on D.
seriously, the picture you painted above would make it seem like there's literally no weakness on the D. After all, we have a solid S tandem, a "steal" in Jefferson and Marshall brought in who was a starter, nto to mention Peterson when the reality is that's probably one of the most suspect units in all of football.
but hey... you call it realistic, i call it wishful thinking. potatoe, potato. The proof will be be in the pudding and i hope i'm wrong. we'll see soon enough.
