I don't believe in Nurkic to play most of the season. I don't believe in Durant to play most of the season. I don't believe in Beal to play most of the season.Ayton was clearly overvalued by Suns fans. Ultimately he never had more value than he was the potential #1 pick right before the draft. It's been trending south since.
Of course, another way to look at that is Nurkic's stats were better because he was playing against a half-assing Ayton. It's a six of vs. half dozen of kind of situation. In 7 games head to head:
Averages Player Points Rebounds Assists Steals Blocks Deandre Ayton 17.9 7.4 1.6 0.6 0.7 Jusuf Nurkic 13.0 11.4 2.3 0.9 0.6
Kind of what I remembered. Ayton scoring but getting killed on the boards. Portland went 5-2 against us in those 7 games.
This is the detail of NBA games in which Deandre Ayton and Jusuf Nurkic played against each other, including head-to-head record, stats average, game highs and game-by-game data both in the Regular Season and Playoffs.www.landofbasketball.com
I disagree with that.Just that the Suns needed to get deeper and they did that. They think Nurkic is fine as a big
I believe the post I responded to was how did they do against each other head to head or something like that. Wasn’t meant to be any kind of statement just the stats.Of course, another way to look at that is Nurkic's stats were better because he was playing against a half-assing Ayton. It's a six of vs. half dozen of kind of situation.
Again, I can understand the Suns wanting to move on from Ayton. I'm just very disappointed they couldn't (or didn't try to) get anything better than Nurkic and a bunch of less than inspiring throw-ins. I'm not convinced anyone we got in that trade adds any real on-court value. Maybe more trade flexibility down the line, but nothing that helps a championship run in the imminent future.
Well if you are right and they all get hurt, then yes we are screwed and aren't winning the title.I don't believe in Nurkic to play most of the season. I don't believe in Durant to play most of the season. I don't believe in Beal to play most of the season.
I would rather have the team get younger around Booker, not older. We aren't winning a title this year or next, and then what?
Nurk will likely be an all star being around kd and book...and I haven't watched what much of nurk. But, dude can rebound.Yup.
Discounting Allen as a solid rotation piece makes no sense to me. We know have 5 legit playmakers and another great three point shooter.
He’s actually the piece I’m happiest about with the trade. I expect Nurkic to be on and off injured all year. A
The Ayton on that finals run is not the same player he was. He was great at times then. That player doesn’t exist. Ayton has always thought he was Dominayton. He has never worked hard to be great. He thinks he already is.Ayton was one of the main reasons we were two wins away from a title. He certainly wasn't the reason we lost the series vs. the Bucks.
At the time, he DID provide championship level play - the past couple of seasons have been undoubtedly disappointing but to say he could never provide that? Too far.
I disagree. Yes they were routinely far more physical than Grayson is today but the type of dirty is different IMO. If they made a movie about dirty play in the 80's and 90's they'd cast Dave Bautista or Brad Pitt or Liam Neesom to play the role. If they made it about Grayson, they'd look more for a Marjoe Gortner, Bruce Dern or Eric Roberts clone.
