Atlanta Falcons hiring Kevin Stefanski as next head coach originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Atlanta Falcons are reportedly hiring Kevin Stefanski as their next head coach.
The news comes from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, and ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that it's a five-year deal for Stefanski, but the financial terms weren't revealed.
"The Falcons are set to hire former Browns coach Kevin Stefanski as their new head coach, per The Insiders. One of the top candidates on the board, Stefanski would likely keep DC Jeff Ulbrich, as well. A coveted pairing in Atlanta," he reported.
The hiring of Stefanski comes on the same day he had a second, in-person interview with the Falcons.
Atlanta clearly wanted to move quickly to hire Stefanski, and understandably so, as he was set to have second interviews with the Tennessee Titans and Baltimore Ravens, also.
Obviously, the Falcons had no intention of letting Stefanski leave the building, and he was clearly amenable to that.
This amounts to a great get for the Falcons, as Stefanski is a good coach, as evidenced by his two Coach of the Year awards, and he's exactly the kind of offensive mind Atlanta needs.
Stefanski takes the reins of an offense that features young stars like Bijan Robinson and Drake London, and a young quarterback in Michael Penix Jr., who desperately needed a better offensive system.
