At Petco Park: Gallen was impressive his last time out, giving up one earned run and striking out 10 across seven innings in a win over the Giants. It was his second start this year with double-digit strikeouts. … The Diamondbacks rearranged their rotation so Gallen could face the Padres, against whom he has logged a 3.38 ERA in 13 career starts. He has faced them once this year, giving up four runs in 6 1/3 innings on June 14. Three of the runs he allowed that day came in the seventh inning. … Darvish will be making his season debut after missing the first half due to right elbow inflammation. … He threw 64 pitches over four innings in a simulated game in Lake Elsinore last week and followed that with a bullpen session over the weekend. … He faced the Diamondbacks once last season, giving up three runs in 5 1/3 innings in a start in September.
