Diamondbacks RHP Corbin Burnes (1-1, 3.58) vs. Dodgers RHP Dustin May (1-2, 4.36).
At Chase Field: Burnes gave up one run in six innings against the Mets in his last start on April 30, then had his turn skipped in the rotation as he dealt with right shoulder inflammation. … He received a cortisone shot and threw a bullpen session on May 7, after which he was declared good to go for this start. … Manager Torey Lovullo suggested that Burnes might be on a shorter leash than he would be in a typical start. He had thrown between 88 and 98 pitches in each of his six starts. … May was dominant in his first three starts of the year (1.06 ERA in 17 innings) but has been less so over his past three (7.88 ERA in 16 innings). … May averages 94-95 mph with his sinker and four-seam fastballs. He also mixes in a sweeper, cutter and change-up. … He has a 4.42 ERA against the Diamondbacks in 18 1/3 innings in his career. He last faced them in 2023, giving up just one run in 13 innings across two starts.
