Playing out the string comes to mind for the Dbacks. They now have the 23rd best record in MLB out of 30 teams. How Lovullo thought they could get back above .500 this season and avoid the fire sale is a head scratcher. Torey cements his legacy as a sub .500 manager. That isn't going to change anytime soon - but perhaps the Dbacks will make a managerial move in the offseason - and by move, I don't mean offering Torey an extension.

Without Naylor, Suarez, Grichuk, and Kelly, the Dbacks are a AAA+ team. I didn't expect anything different after the deadline.

We will see if Half Gallen has anything left in the tank for the rest of the season. After no one wanted him at the deadline, he should be motivated to pitch well the rest of the way so that he can get a decent free agent deal in the offseason. We shall see tonight.

I think Half Gallen hears the call of free agency. Expect him to perform much better than his 5.48 ERA the rest of the way. That's good for the Dbacks - bigger deal, better compensatory pick.
