Only a sweep of the Angels will get the DBacks above .500 at the break. That might give Hazen pause regarding a "sell, sell, sell" approach. The DBacks are 10 games back in the division (3 teams ahead of them) and 5 games out for the last wild card spot (4 teams ahead of them). Unless the DBacks go on a massive winning streak with the current injury depleted roster after the All Star Break, they are virtually eliminated from postseason participation this year. Hazen should do some selling and prepare for a better 2026.

The Division was won by the Dodgers before the first pitch of the season was thrown. For San Diego, San Francisco and Arizona, it's always been about the Wildcard. The Dbacks are certainly capable of making up 5 games over the remaining 68 games. However, the weight of all the injuries, coupled with too many shortcomings from guys actually playing, is all probably too much to overcome for this team.
Which is why I'd be shocked if any, or all of these 3 are dealt: Suarez, Gallen and Kelly. Each of them, especially Geno and Gallen, will bring lots of top quality/top value in a trade. Hazen has to be thinking that with a healthy Burnes, Ryne Nelson, Pfaddt and MAYBE an improved E-Rod, along with a healthy Puk, Martinez, Miller, Moreno...and maybe an improved Carroll/Thomas/Gurriel...I dunno... Man our outfield still don't work for me.

Oh, and did I mention dumping Larkin as our 3rd base coach?!?! How the hell he didn't send Marte last night... ugh...

Welp...the series doesn't appear to be off to a sterling start. Looks like God is on the Halos side tonight - at least early.

Well, I guess the Halos really did have Angels in the Outfield tonight. LOL, 82CardsGrad. This should definitely convince Hazen to Sell, Sell, Sell.
It’s so hard to toss in the towel… Guys like Hazen and Torey aren’t built that way.
It’s easy for us to stand from afar and conclude the season is over. However, when your job is to compete until the numbers say otherwise… it’s just very hard to give up.

That said, and as I’ve said earlier, I would be thoroughly shocked if either Gene, Gallen or Kelly, are still with this team come later this month/early August…

I don't care how dangerous they can be at the plate, Marte and Carroll have zero business batter at the top of the order, if they can't work counts and take pitches. This ******** of swinging at the first pitch needs to stop, especially at the beginning of the game.

Bases loaded. Nobody out. Gallen about to have a 30 pitch 1st because he won't attack the zone

Half Gallen's trade value may go down a bit if he has a real clunker tonight. Especially right before the AS break.
