I don’t think people realize how good he is. If he were on the Chefs, he’d be a pro bowler. Plus, there are no good offensive lines without a good center. Dude is totally holding up his end.

Is Hjalte Froholdt the most underrated FA we've ever signed?

Reading the board when he joined the team I thought we were getting a traffic cone.

The only other player I can think of that might be close is Bertrand Berry.

He was a revelation, no doubt. Players like that rarely hit, but when they do: bonus!

Due to my age, I have to be a little greedy when it comes to the team's improvement. So, I'm expecting about a .500 season. Realistically, if we stay relatively healthy, I think we'll have a top ten offense, maybe close to the best since the team has been in Arizona. And not far behind our SB team. If I remember correctly that team had a great passing game with KW, Larry, Anquan, and Breaston. But this year's team will be more of a power running team, and an improved and dangerous passing game. Also, expect to see improvement on defense, but probably a year away from keeping the team from SB contender's. JMO.

You mention a dangerous passing game Garthshort....

I'm not sure about MHJ as a redzone target since I didn't follow him in college, but what I'm hoping is that he can give us a WR presence in the endzone that we haven't had since DHop or maybe even prime Larry Fitzgerald.

McBride is a good TE endzone target for sure, and that's part of the puzzle. But we also need a little more than Hollywood or Dortch could give us when we're inside the 10 or 15 yard line.

M. Wilson is still a "maybe", so hopefully MHJ can use that big frame and athleticism to make us a little more dangerous in the redzone.

Anyway, just wanted to throw that out there. Maybe @Cbus cardsfan can comment.

Or maybe because it says “Tongan”. Not sure what that is, I thought he is a Dane? I dunno.

He isn't Tongan.

He's Danish.
I had this same reaction initially but if he wants to claim and celebrate some Tongan heritage from somewhere, it takes nothing away from me.

Cards trying to celebrate AIPAC month; probably not bad to show some AIPAC players that don’t immediately appear so.

It is on his Mom's side and the tattoo he has is Tongan.

So, he's part Danish and part Tongan? I guess to be politically correct, he's either Dangan or Tongish. I'm not sure that either has a designated month, or even a day.

Hopefully we will not have to rely on the passing game looking for a red zone target, pound the rock!

Yup. A lot of us are mutts. Just bc we aren’t 100% of something doesn’t mean we don’t have that in us somewhere. I’m glad he’s proud of it. And I’m sad that people based their statements purely outta appearance without stopping to think what could be the case.

Another potential item no considered is he may be of 100% danish descent but born in Tonga and possess Tongan citizenship. That would also make him Tongan. The same way most of us on this board are American despite not having an ounce of Native American heritage.
He was born in Denmark. His mother is from New Zealand but her family migrated there from Tonga.

I mean I was thinking similarly CardNots!

Just think if inside the ten yard line MHJ was a guy that the defense had to try to double. If there was no way one CB could keep him from scoring.

We'd add this to McBride, and like you said a seriously legit TD scoring threat in JC. It would make us pretty tough to stop!

I know it's an obvious statement but being efficient in the red zone is a big key to winning games so I'm hoping MHJ can add another dimension to that part of our offense! We'll see!

Conner is also a RedZone threat, both running and receiving. Also Higgins (TE). I think we are close to elite on offense.

From what I saw on Benson’s college film, we should not discount his contributions in the red zone.

As for MHJ based on his feet, height and being a hands catcher he will draw double teams opening up areas allowing others to become targets.

With the KM/Conners/Benson ground threat keeping the linebackers honest we could be lethal inside 10 yards.

Play calls will need to be better to instill supreme confidence for the players.

But yeah, I support your stance:)

We need to redefine the red zone...out to the 50...at the end of the season I want to hear, "every time the Arizona Cardinals crossed midfield, they scored"

I'd wager the Cardinals get a few longer TD runs out of Benson.

I get the feeling he will be the Cardinals back 2-3 years down the road. He was my favorite back in the draft and the Cardinals got him at a really good spot.

Shelf life for a RB is not a long one, so your prediction is a sound one. But I think that Conner has another couple of years left. And his leadership qualities should not be overlooked. As Conner's carries go down, I also expect Benson's to go up. This year we are fortunate to have two VG RB's.

I think if anything is going to limit him it's going to be injuries. He's always been a little prone to injury, I guess because of his style of play that takes on contact, and they generally get worse with age.

But if he can avoid that with less carries I think you're right, he still has a couple of good years left him in. He's never been a big speed guy so doesn't have it to lose.

Yep! My kids are total mutts. Italian, German, Portuguese, English, Filipino, Spanish, Chinese

Basing everything on appearance or how their last name is spelled isn't an accurate way to identify people these days.
