We have reached the part of the offseason where we begin to see innumerable lists and rankings. There will be a sprinkling of notes and news as teams begin the final stage of their offseason programs next week, but other than that, it will be lists and rankings.
And so it begins.
PFF ranked the 32 projected starting quarterbacks in the NFL. Where does Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray rank?
Murray comes in at No. 15 overall in Tier 3B. These quarterbacks are described as "solid starters, but they need more help."
Murray is frustrating for fans. We have seen Tier 1 or 2 play in his career. He has looked like an MVP in stretches. And then he looks very average. Normally turnover-averse, he threw eight interceptions in the Cardinals' final seven games, when they went from 6-4 and in the division lead to 8-9 and not making the playoffs.
In a season and a half under Jonathan Gannon, Murray has been someone who needs more, although what he really needs is a defense that can get off the field. Murray led a quality and efficient offense.
He still has that Tier 1 ceiling, but this ranking based on actually play on the field is probably fair.

2025 NFL QB rankings: Kyler Murray
Murray comes in at No. 15 overall in Tier 3B. These quarterbacks are described as "solid starters, but they need more help."
After multiple injury-plagued seasons, Murray finally stayed healthy in 2024 and delivered an 82.1 overall grade. If he can avoid the injury bug again in 2025, Murray is well-positioned to take another step forward in Year 3 under head coach Jonathan Gannon and offensive coordinator Drew Petzing.
