What will the BASE D FRONT look like?
The only way this draft and FA makes any sense to me is if we're switching to a 4-3.
Working toward a 5-2 at this point
Which is really just a 3-4 .
Except the 5 upfront would weigh 330+
Looks like this player was the "gem" that they were hoping no one else noticed. Curious.
You will see PLENTY of 4-2-5.
My question is what will be the Base on 1st downs?
coaches telling draftees 3-4

Gunter said the plan would be for him to play DE in 3-4 on 1st, 2nd downs, and move inside in four-down nickel situations. #CardsDraft

Where is this 4-3 stuff coming from the front office has said nothing about switching to a different defense at this point that would just be stupid.
OK, so BASE 3-4 with 4 down lineman nickle.
We're a flexible D-Line.
Weatherspoon can play any of the LB positions. As could DWash, mtl.
Along the DL the closest we have to a starting NT is Cory Peters and that spot is still a question mark if he can hold up there the whole year.
We have DL men who exhibit more skills that translate well with going with a 4-3 scheme also.
Yes, 3-4 with versatile enough linemen to be able to play all 3 downs.
The BASE will be 3-4 with the ability to exchange/sub a lineman or two and go 4 down on 2nd and long; and 3rd downs. We will show very little 3 down lineman on nickle sets, mtl.
Every one of our DL have played in the 3-4.
Right...but the DL that we use in base, will stay out there for nickel as well. They'll just run a 4th DL out on nickel packages orr a LB like Golden sliding down and playing with his hand in the dirt.
