YEah that was brutal. Right when we go up 15 and appear to be running away Illinois breaks out a full court press and UCLA just wilted. Weird game, Cronin admitted in the post game he should have called a time out but he was sort of surprised how UCLA handled the press and didn't immediately realize we need a Timeout. Very impressive Illinois turned up the defense.
And it's hard to win when a kid goes 8-9 on 3's, kid lit up Jaylen Clark our best defender
So remarkable stat update. Shannon was 8-9 from 3 in the win over UCLA. Since that game he's 9-45 from 3! So I would assume that's a combination of things, the UCLA game put a target on him for defenses, and obviously he was just insanely hot against UCLA.
The blowout loss to Missouri last night hurts UCLA too since it impacts their NET rating.
Basketball is so weird, UCLA up 15 Illinois goes press and takes the game over and wins. Illinois played Maryland a bit later and lost. Then UCLA goes into Maryland and on their home court beats them by 27 and it wasn't even that close.
There is no dominant team so far IMO, UCONN and ARizona are likely the best offense
