The New York Giants may draft a quarterback in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, after all. It just might not be with the No. 3 overall pick.
SNY's Connor Hughes reported Monday that the G-Men may consider trading back up into the first round of the draft on Thursday night to draft Mississippi quarterback Jaxson Dart. Hughes wrote that Giants head coach Brian Daboll "is high on" the Rebels product.
"Among qualities Daboll values in QBs is toughness," Hughes wrote on social media website X. "Dart has that."
The SNY reporter went on to write that Dart is the bigger quarterback name to watch for New York – momentum for Colorado's Shedeur Sanders to end up with the Giants "has cooled dramatically."

So while New York may shy away from drafting a quarterback with the No. 3 overall pick, a trade up back into the first round is on the table if Dart's name is still on the board.
Dart has been one of the biggest risers in this year's pre-draft process. After standing out during the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama in late January and early February, the Mississippi quarterback went on to shine at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis a few weeks later.
Dart's upward momentum in the early months of 2025 has pushed his name onto the first-round bubble. USA TODAY Sports' Nate Davis projected a Cleveland Browns trade up to pick No. 28 to select Dart in the first round in his latest 2025 NFL mock draft.
The Mississippi quarterback could also end up in New Orleans with the Saints' No. 9 pick or Pittsburgh with the Steelers at pick No. 21.
Dart finished the 2024 season with 4,279 passing yards, 29 touchdowns and six interceptions.
The 2025 NFL Draft begins Thursday, April 24 with its first round. Fans can tune in to ESPN, ABC or NFL Network for draft coverage starting at 8 p.m. ET.
