Sources: Rangers get MacKenzie Gore in trade with Nationals
The Rangers are acquiring All-Star left-hander MacKenzie Gore from the Nationals in exchange for five prospects, sources told ESPN.
With spring training looming, Zac Gallen's market seems to be finally gaining steam.
The Baltimore Orioles, Chicago Cubs, and Arizona Diamondbacks - Gallen's team for the last seven seasons - are showing interest in the veteran right-hander, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.
All-Star shortstop Jacob Wilson and the Athletics reached agreement on a seven-year contract that includes a club option for an eighth season, the team announced Friday, adding another premium young player to an impressive core as the franchise prepares to move to Las Vegas.
The Seattle Mariners are close to acquiring All-Star infielder/outfielder Brendan Donovan from the St. Louis Cardinals in a three-team trade that also involves the Tampa Bay Rays, ESPN reports. None of the involved clubs has yet announced the trade.
“The Padres have yet to make an outside addition to replace Dylan Cease in the rotation, and while the return of Joe Musgrove provides a boost, relying on Randy Vásquez and JP Sears to both occupy rotation spots is a risky approach. If Zac Gallen ends up opting for a short-term deal to rebuild his value, he could be the perfect stopgap addition to this staff,” Reuter wrote.
