Ayton probably thinks he's the next coming of Shaquille O'Neal.
I was listening to a show this morning and it sounded like that wasn't a priority as much as moving on from LeBron and getting younger.Yeah, Kyrie I think would have to go for salary reasons - not to mention Lakers would want something back of value.
Pffft. He probably thinks he's more DominAYTON than Shaq.Ayton probably thinks he's the next coming of Shaquille O'Neal.
It's kind of hard to blame him in a way.I can't wait to see what gems he drops in his introductory press conference that will immediately be laughably out of touch.
If the Lakers are the most popular team in the league, the league must be horribly unpopular. It's kind of hard to blame him in a way.
Afterall he is now getting $35 million a year for the next 2 years and is now on the most popular team in the league. He is somehow failing upward.

I'm turning that over in my head--"most popular =/ most liked"--and trying to understand the logic thereof.Think Dallas Cowboys or New York Yankees. Most popular doesn't equal most liked or supported.
From what I've seen and experienced the younger generation gravitates more towards individual players than teams in the NBA also.
There is a reason he is a free agent. He is a head case. No thank you for any price.I only just saw that Ben Simmons is a free agent. I would sign him if he didn't demand much money. If he is healthy, he can play defense and he can handle the ball.
You can be the team with the most fans - but also the team that has the most people that hate you.I'm turning that over in my head--"most popular =/ most liked"--and trying to understand the logic thereof.
Yeah and it's the kind of hate that can drive viewership too. Fans love to watch the Cowboys or the Lakers hoping they'll get embarrassed but some teams you "hate" and just don't want anything to do with them. You can be the team with the most fans - but also the team that has the most people that hate you.
Say there are 50 million NBA fans - The Lakers might have 10 million fans, but there are 20 million of the 40 million other NBA fans that hate them, but no other team has as many fans as them.
I never understood this. I don't watch teams I hate unless it's against a team I really like and want to see them beat said team. I know some do but I never have unless it's this scenario. The playoffs are different.Yeah and it's the kind of hate that can drive viewership too. Better than no ship lolFake ship.
they are ecstatic doing digital backflips - same exact fans that roasted him during the finalsIt's interesting seeing people on X trying to convince themselves that Ayton is a great player.
Absolutely. But that was one of the luckiest championships ever.Better than no ship lol
The other 16 were lucky too? C’mon. Everyone played the same schedule and under the same circumstances. At the end of the season, Lakers were on top. They were as lucky as OKC was this season.Absolutely. But that was one of the luckiest championships ever.

What? My comment was clearly about one specific championship. IMO more luck was required to put the Lakers on top that season than for most champions. And there isn't a fan base in the league that wouldn't have been thrilled to luck their way into that title. The other 16 were lucky too? C’mon.
