LeBron and Luka - could get ugly
Luka is soon to be the next James Harden, no matter what the Lakers do.

If Lebron is traded by the Lakers, the Mavericks are the favorites to acquire him.

I’ve seen Beal for Bum floating around too. Please no. But I guess he would be more useful and fill a need for 10-15 a game.

If the Mavs somehow get LeBron without sending back AD or giving up Cooper Flagg then the Luka trade looks quite different. They've got a solid team now but LeBron would put them in contender category with OKC, Denver, and Houston.

A Lebron to Dallas trade would be very complicated, and not sure it is possible for Dallas to retain AD and Kyrie in such a trade.

Pipe dream. They would have to give up Anthony Davis in order to get him.

Honestly. If LeBron really wants out of LA, a Phoenix trade makes more sense for LeBron. It would be Beal for LeBron. Then we would have to add something in a second trade, which would include taking Bronny back. LeBron has a son playing at UofA.

Not sure why LA would do it even then. Maybe there would be the hope that Beal and Luka would work. With Luka as the distributor and Beal healthy it could.

LeBron in Phoenix would be interesting. With LeBron as a point forward, Book and Green could both be on the floor together. Balance would be better. I am not sure about wins.

Ah, the idle musing of the off-season.

I'd take Lebron over Beal, but it's hard to see why the Lakers would do it.

Beal has an extra year of salary with a player option for $57,128,610.

The logic doesn't logic. I guess if Lebron absolutely insisted on being traded to Phoenix for some obscure reason, the Lakers might accommodate him, but other than that?

Luka seems to be the player no one wants to play with. Book is just the opposite.

Yeah, Kyrie I think would have to go for salary reasons - not to mention Lakers would want something back of value.

Yeah that is what it would take - but other than wanting to stay near LA and his kid at U of A, I see no reason why he would want to come here.

Luka is a ball hog, but for a role player he is great to play with since he is such a great passer. I just don't think guys that want to get their own mesh well with him.

so the Knicks fired Tibs to bring in career coach underachiever Mike Brown? Great move Gotham.

34 million for two years

NBA insider Marc Stein was the first to report on Wednesday that rival executives expected Ayton to sign with the Lakers upon formally clearing waivers at 5 p.m. ET. Stein's colleague, Jake Fischer, reported that it'll be a two-year deal for Ayton, and the Lakers will pay him $16.6 million over the life of the agreement, which includes a player option for year two. Ayton's salary for next season, when factoring in his $25.6 million Portland buyout, will be north of $34 million

Wonderful! DeAndre Ayton is joining the Lakers. The Lakers will be ruined: their payroll will be wasted on a few players, and their performance will suffer.

The Lakers look ridiculous for being eager to sign a player whose previous teams were desperate to get rid of him,
