This CBSSN play-by-play announcer is really a loser. He referred to the person feeding
information into his headset as "the girl with the cute face mask". What a dork! He's
behind the times. And after he had made an observation, he bragged that he did.

How I wish that the Mercury rated their own regular announcers and are on FSAZ.

Minnesota leads the Mercury 69-58 at the end of three quarters.

Not the high scoring game that I expected.

And a 75-70 5-point lead midway through the 4th quarter.
C'mon G.O.A.T., when she's back in the game, that is.
And DT is back in.

It is midnight on the East Coast.

Skylar with a '3' to be back within 5 with 2:44 to go.

Then 7. Then 9. Then 7. And a 20-second timeout.

The Lynx beat the Mercury 90-80.

DT picks up another technical in the last few seconds.

It's Sunday at 5:00 and the Mercury-Washington game is on FSAZ.

Brittney is, once again, MIA for personal reasons??? The more I see her, the
more she seems like Deandre Ayton. Can score, but not a difference-maker.
And can't be counted on to play a full season.

Both teams have nine players in uniform tonight.

And our smooth announcing team of Tom Leander and Annie Meyers Drysdale
is calling the game.

Today would have been Kobe's 44th birthday and Diana is wearing his name
and number on her uniform tonight. It will be auctioned with the money going
to Kobe's foundation.

Taurasi and Hartley are the only two players in the WNBA in the top-10 in
points and assists. A few days ago, I referred to Bria Hartley as the heir
apparent to Diana when she retires. And she's been doing it from the bench
until these last two games.

At the end of the 1st quarter, the Mercury have a 2-point 19-17 lead.

At the end of the first half, the Mystics lead by one -- 39-38.

Kia Vaughn is having a strong game with 15 points for the Mercury.

And Washington has a 65-61 lead at the end of three quarters.

This is following the pattern of the past few games. Down by a few
all game long with the opponents opening up a lead at the end.

'Still strange that we haven't heard the reason for Brittney's
disappearance.

The Mercury had a 7-point lead at about the 4-minute mark of the 4th quarter. And held on for an 88-87 win.

Diana had 34 points. Kia Vaughn with 16, most of them to lead our first half in scoring.

Brianna Turner with 17 rebounds and 3 blocks to more than cover for the missing Griner.

I've been opting to watch Mercury games over D-backs when
they are on TV at the same time.

But with today being MLB tribute "42" day to Jackie Robinson,
I stuck with the D-backs, who beat the Giants to end an 8-game
losing streak.

It is sadly ironic that the actor who portrayed Jackie Robinson
in the movie "42", Chadwick Boseman, passed away today at
the age of 43 from cancer.

I wonder if Brittney chose number 42 in honor of Jackie Robinson.

I see that the Mercury lost and Brittney is back - - - with our worst "minus" on the score sheet (-25) with only 8 points.

And that Diana had zero assists. Skylar, of course, led -- with 6 -- and Hartley had 5 off the bench, in a team leading 28 minutes.
