Kevin Cron didn’t take long to get re-acclimated to Pacific Coast League pitching. The infielder batted .370 (10-for-27) with 12 runs scored, three doubles, five home runs and 13 RBI in seven games after being optioned to Reno by the D-backs.
But he wasn't given the chance to start for even a full week by Lovullo.

A first baseman was brought up to not be a first baseman.

Your loss, Torey. No, actually, our loss. :)

And then take away at-bats from whom?

Cron got worse the more at-bats he got

Like it or not, Walker has earned the right to the full season. Unless he goes into an extended slump, he needs to be the 1st base starter.

Uh, Walker is not starting tonight's game. Lamb is. And he will get at least as many starts at 1B as Walker. At Lovullo's whim.

Regarding Cron, he started once a week and sat on the bench to pinch hit the rest of the time. What did you
expect Cron to do in his first exposure under those circumstances? A few sporadic at-bats to prove himself.

The answer to that is look what he has done since he is back to starting every day. That is fact, not opinion.

Is that pressure the way for a manager to instill confidence in a rookie? No!

Torey himself told the Press that it is not his priority to develop young players. A page from the Mike D'Antoni playbook. :thumbdown

Jon, do you really support the way Cron's introduction to the Majors was handled?

Walker hasn't "earned" a thing. In my opinion, neither has Lamb with his history of second half slumps.

Cron earned the opportunity to show what he could do as a first baseman here and never got the chance.

That is not only bad for him, it is bad for the D-backs.

There are only so many at bats to go around Walker had his little slow but got out of it

And honestly in Kevin’s first stint I did not see anything that outstanding

Walker and Cron are both right handed hitters, that is not a platoon situation. Lamb and Walker would be. Cron has a future I think but looked way overmatched in quite a few ABs.
