Yes, a good manager can overcome a lot. But, 90 wins? Not with our starting pitching staff.

As evidenced by our opening day starter. And a batting order in transition after losing key players.
The bullpen remains to be seen.

Too bad we don't have one.

As much as you and I are in agreement about how Igor is a misfit leading the Suns, why do you think
that Torey is not a good manager? What has he done that disappointed you? Or has not done?

Horrendous pitcher management and ever-shifting line-ups with no defined roles outside of Goldy. A lot of headscratching in-game decisions as well, and very slow to adjust to in-game situations. Known to set line-ups up to a week in advance (again, with no apparent rhyme or reason as to what those line-ups were) and not change them, even if circumstances warranted such a change. Perhaps in connection with that, often benched/sat players just as they were getting hot, killing their momentum, while overplaying players who were in horrific slumps and clearly needed at least a day off. Almost presided over a historical collapse two seasons ago and did preside over a very hefty collapse last year. Passive and equivocal in communications, both with players and with press. Not enough discipline or professional accountability and too much of a country club vibe in the clubhouse.

Pretty much a Bob Brenly/Bob Melvin clone.

Elsewhere, Goldy went 0-for-4 with 3 strikeouts in his St. Louis debut.

For the sake of nostalgia, I wish he were still with us. But, as a player, his batting skills have already declined.
As evidenced by his half-season long slump last season. And then, not being a real difference maker.

It was right to trade Goldy when we did, but the return we got is ridiculously bad.
