It's unfathomable to me that it's taking this long to verify ballots. Fontes blames it on early ballots being drop off on election day that require signature verification? Doesn't look like they have enough people working on it. Oy vey ....

In the end, I doubt all this will matter. 17k votes is a helluva gap.

So signature verification is required to address the (from most reports) statistically insignificant amount of voter impersonation. But because either the system or operation of verification is taking so long, critics want to cut it off, thereby revoking the votes of many times the number that could possibly have been fraudulent. Got it.

Anyone dropping off a ballot in a sealed, signed envelope is following regulations. Their vote has to count and be counted.

Last I heard there was 600K ballots to be counted. Let's say there is an even 500K left. 17K of 500K is 3.4%. It's possible especially if Pima county has a fair amount of ballots to be counted.

Old information, but I believe Pima was down to 80,000

The bulk is in Maricopa where the spread has been under 3%

It's not just verifying - it's the entire process and it's going to take a while when the number is that large

This isn't uncommon, new or concerning

It's just usually irrelevant because the spreads are usually large enough that the outstanding number isnt statistically going to change anything and it's just filling in the final details to a called race

It isnt probable, but it is possible. We seen a couple examples of it in some of the House races. Yes, those had fewer votes, but similar percentages to our Senate race.

That said, i am resigned to McSally winning.

Some close house seats across the country flipped when the absentee and dropped off votes were counted. One in NJ and Georgia did that despite the GOP was the apparent winner on election night. Georgia the GOP conceded. NJ is still being counted but the Dem is ahead by 2500
