The Ravens have started preparation for their preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts, and nothing says the regular season is approaching like the release of the first unofficial depth chart of the summer.
The offensive and defensive depth chart, printed out by Baltimore's public relations department, has a few surprises, including Mike Green having to find his role.
With the Thursday night opener quickly approaching, here's the initial reaction to the depth chart with ten key takeaways.
Rookie OT Emery Jones Jr. is on NFI (Non-Football Injury), and DB Ar'Darius Washington is on PUP.
Keaton Mitchell is back and as explosive as ever, but he'll have to earn every carry as he sits on the depth chart behind a solid backup in Justice Hill, and an all-world player in Derrick Henry.
If Baltimore carries six wide receivers, the big four will consist of Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, DeAndre Hopkins, and Devontez Walker, with some Tylan Wallace sprinkled in. That leaves Anthony Miller, Dayton Wade, Malik Cunningham, LaJohntay Wester, Keith Kirkwood, and two undrafted free agents fighting for one potential roster spot.
If Isaiah Likely is the Ravens' tight end of the future, it won't be shown on this depth chart. Mark Andrews is TE1.
The rookie out of Alabama A&M would be the backup right tackle if the season started today, and he's begun to make key strides in practice.
Andrew Vorhees starts his second straight training camp out as the starting left guard, and only an injury could derail his matchup with Ben Cleveland.
Baltimore didn't like their depth at the defensive end spot, and Brent Urban's immediate naming to the second team shows.
Ojabo is the Ravens International Pathway Program player, and that's likely the only thing that keeps the former Michigan pass rusher on this depth chart. Tavius Robinson has supplanted Ojabo behind Odafe Oweh.
Green is the second-round pick, but the depth chart has him as the fourth-string SAM Linebacker behind Malik Hamm and Adisa Isaac.
Trenton Simpson is the starter opposite Roquan Smith, while rookie Teddye Buchanan has a hill to climb.
Jaire Alexander was the big free agent signing, and he's had an outstanding training camp, but it's Chidobe Awuzie listed as a starter. Marlon Humphrey is the slot cornerback, but the season opener should have Jaire Alexander by then.
