Of course, this game means absolutely nothing to the Cats, but brag all you want...
We're still a #1 seed, and UCLA is going into this game knowing that it might be their last of the season.

Yes, even losing to UCLA will not cost the Cats the #1 seed - but then watch UCLA win the tourney and the automatic bid - and then be a 15 seed.......

I think that:
1) Coach Olsen (still) speaking negativley about this tournament has to affect his players at some level.
2) I know that no coach likes to lose a game, but if you grant me the above point, Coach Olsen would love to see UCLA win this whole damn thing and see what everyone thinks about the Pac - 10.

Call them excuses if you will, but this game still meant nothing to the Arizona basketball program. If I was one of the teams going to the tournament, I'd be pretty scared that Arizona lost this game and will come out hungry.
I know Lute will be fairly unhappy with the performance, but certainly not for very long. All of a sudden, his team gets some extra days off--which can only be good. We still hold the #1.
So we may have lost the game, but it really isn't that much of a loss anyway.
Funny, 2 days ago my dad and I were saying the Cats may be better off losing to UCLA and not have to play three days in a row just before "the" tournament. I didn't think it would really happen!
UCLA played a great game, Arizona played terrible and still had a chance to win in regulation. The Cats typically bounce back very well after a loss. Lets hope they learn from it and come out ready next Thurs/Fri when it counts.

I had a bad feeling about this game because the Cats did not care. They have the most talented team, but when they don't care they can be beat. That is what happened today. I think it is good for them, gives them some extra motivation to win the big thing.

I agree with Chap. We got outplayed by a hungry UCLA team eager to prove thier talent is not adequately reflected by their record (and I think its not), and when your leader shoots 10% from the floor, youre going to lose every time.
This game meant nothing. We're a 1 seed in the west, and thats all that truly matters. Sure its our first loss ever in the PAC 10 tourney, but when you're number one every freaking year, you have to get beat sometime. This game is a blip on the radar screen

If Jason Gardner doesnt show up in round one, we could be the first 1 seed to go out in round 1 ever. Gardner NEEDS to be there and Walton NEEDS to be there. The rest of the kids just arent ready to take the team on their backs yet.

The loss was a blessing in disguise... Now, Stoudamire and Walton can both rest their injured bodies before the tourney next week The only thing I'm concerned about is the lack of a true strong center - Frye is too inconsistent. If we do go against a strong aggressive team like Kentucky, they will eat us up in the paint...
