And I like the profiles of Nichols and Jones. I think they are NFL-level starters. But I feel they are more players who hope to have a Corey Peters level career than guys who are taking over games. Complementary players are important but they have to have higher end players to complement.

Yes. That defense also had three DL players better than anything we currently have. Watt, Allen, and Peters were all better than the players we have added this offseason. This defenses will also not have Markus Golden and Chandler Jones on the EDGE combining for 21.5 sacks.

This is an area I struggle with as well. I don't understand what impact people believe 2 mid-to-bottom level starting DTs and a meh CB will have. We go from around the 30th worst defense to around the 22nd worst defense?

    2024 Draft Countdown/NFL Prospects thread

Some dudes are just winners. JJMc is that guy. Cute dog. Cute girl. National Champ. Checking off all the boxes. What is interesting is I feel like I am one of the few posters on this board who gets the hype. I am not shocked at all that he is projected to go in round 1. Dude is mobile. Has an...

    2024 Draft Countdown/NFL Prospects thread

My pushback would be that Kyler has struggled to complete deeper passes because the smaller stature of his pass catchers emphasizes his struggles with ball placement. When Kyler was throwing the ball downfield to Hopkins, this wasn't as much of an issue. Marv would likely mirror the success...

    Instead of trading down …

I disagree. I don't believe there is much difference between pick 22 and pick 45 in this draft.

    Instead of trading down …

I meant trading up from 27. Fautanu is a favorite of mine and I would not hesitate to grab him in round 1. Similar to Fuaga. Both can play LG or RG for a year or two before kicking outside to T. I just don't believe either will make it to 27, and less appealing to trade up for.

    Instead of trading down …

IMO, a 1st round OL kinda goes out the window after paying Jonah Williams. Also, you have to take the board as it comes. There is only one 1st round DT IMO, and two 1st round EDGE guys (if I exclude Latu as an unknown). That said, the top 3 WRs are probably all better prospects than those players.

    Instead of trading down …

What do you think the list of options are? Dallas Turner Jared Verse Byron Murphy Terrion Arnold Quinyon Mitchell That is probably my guess. Maybe Latu but it depends on how they evaluate his injury medicals. I feel Wiggins is too close to Rakestraw and McKinstry to move up for him. I don't...

    Instead of trading down …

I think the sweet spot in this draft is rounds 2 and 3. Also early 4. Really nice options at RB, WR, IOL, OT, DT, LB, DB.

    Instead of trading down …

I personally feel 27 is a no-man's-land spot right now so I would be comfortable moving either up or down. Moving just depends on how many 1st round prospects you feel there are and what the cost is to move up to get the last ones available. Some of this will depend on how many OL and WRs go...

Week 11 of the Arizona Cardinals off season thread. 03/18/24-03/24/24

I actually think it is. MHJ brings a lot of needed juice and credibility to the organization.

Agree. It would be very stupid of any GM to make a deal like this without a contract in place.

Yeah. I know I can be critical of them, but I think Monti and Gannon are 100% correct when they say they will listen. You have to put that out there just in case a team gets desperate.

Clowney was just an example. I also agree that Monti doesn't appear interested in adding these types of FAs (which I feel is a mistake), but your post was saying what you would so, not what Monti would do.

I don't see why you wouldn't. Again, using Clowney. Signing him on a two year deal does nothing to hurt your roster but does make you competitive, quicker. It just can't be the only tool you use. Just like you can't only build through the draft, or only build through trades, or only sign guys...

Slow & Steady 2 Year Plan

I think the argument is three years at Albany as he was not highly recruited out of high school. From a production standpoint, he has been pretty consistent. from his last year at Albany to include the two years at Florida St, Verse has had at least 9 sacks and 11.5 TFLs every year.

Funny how it is the tape that matters most, and yet people are worried about non-tape issues with MHJ. Prospect fatigue and content farming at it's peak.
