Obviously they could theoretically keep him and swallow that enormous cap hit. But is that and cutting him the only option? There are no more restructures, are there? He can't sign a "new" cap friendly contract (lower salary). Can someone explain this situation in depth with the new cap number...
went thru HUGE slump and has good old Jerruh looking for big name players. But they went smart route and built up that beastly offensive line. Took a couple years but took smart picks, no big name players (who have failed) and now their line is top reasons they're where they're at now...
I'm not saying he's the best. Or will be the best. Hell, good chance he busts. But just based on watching him at the collegiate level, he just has that NFL size body and arm strength. Wouldn't mind snagging him up 3rd or 4th round if available.
We had a solid team last year, some say we overachieved and won't have the same results next year while some say we will do better this year! Drafting in the 20's is much better than the Top 5 and a lot less pressure.
The Cardinals are open to a number of different situations and draft picks...
I don't think Kony or Ford are the BPA which is usually what the Cardinals do come draft time. Every year, some one falls in the draft. I think Cardinals land a position not necessarily of need but can help them out right away.
1: QB Derrick Carr - Fresno State
2: OLB Telvin Smith - Florida State
3: ILB Yawin Smallwood - Connecticut
4: RB Charles Sims - West Virginia
5: WR Rob Herron - Wyoming
6: G Trai Turner - LSU
Coming off a risky injury. Would have to pay him. But assuming he's healthy, you get one of the best pass rushers in the NFL. I'd give up a 2nd or a 3rd for him.
Do we go with Massie at RT? Draft Lewan and put him at RT and get a solid O-Line? Go with other needs (DE, LB, SS). What would you do in a scenario like this?
After next season I expect Fitzgerald, Dockett, Palmer, Dansby (after they resign him) all to be gone. Go with the youth they have, find a young QB and build from their. They have talented young pieces luckily.
