SI article on Josh Rosen and him being traded

What I don't really understand -- but I hope the media somehow uncovers -- is why they didn't put Rosen on the market earlier. Based on everything they've said, it doesn't appear that they were looking to trade out of No. 1, and they could have and should have recognized much earlier that that...

    Game 11 (AZ 3 SEA 19) Thoughts

Some Issues with Your Post "BA has been sticking to a formula of keeping the score close for three quarters and finding a way to win games in the 4th quarter, almost to perfection for the first 10 weeks." Are you saying that BA is keeping the offense conservative to avoid turnovers to keep...

    Cards v. Panthers 2009/Broncos v. Seahawks 2014

I don't know about anyone else, but as this SB game started, I couldn't help but draw parallels with our playoff game against the Panthers. I'm not sure I should blame John Fox, but in both games, he was completely outcoached. Both times his players looked shellshocked and could not recover...

    Thank you Wiz

Thanks Whiz I personally think that the coaching change is a mistake (though I know I'm in the minority). I very much wanted us to develop the long-term Steelers coaching philosophy. The Steelers endured some down years with Cowher, only to be rewarded with some great years thereafter...

    QB options since Warner

I don't disagree with you, but he does not have the arm strength to make all NFL-required throws. Most QBs can throw a long rainbow pass, and even Leinart can. But he can't throw a deep in route (like the one he almost got Fitz killed on) or a deep out route.

    Fitz has spoken

A 7-6 loss against the Jets is no different in the loss column than 58-0 by the Seahawks. The only question is whether this game was an anomaly. I think it was. I keep thinking about the debacle in 2008 when we lost to the Jets, and we rebounded right away. Obviously there is much less at...

    QB options since Warner

How can you compare Andrew Luck with Matt Leinart? Leinart literally can't throw the ball other than touch passes and checkdowns. Don't you remember the preseason game where he almost got Fitz killed? If Leinart were such an awesome talent, he would be starting elsewhere in the NFL by now...

    QB options since Warner

I don't know, but as soon as we lost the Falcons game, I wanted the team to focus on player development and scheme. I don't care about wins and losses so much as preparing for the next year and getting the best possible draft position. It's painful, but if you aren't playing for the playoffs...

    QB options since Warner

    Good take.

    QB options since Warner

This is so true 2010 was a bust. Leinart had to go for a variety of reasons. Kolb was the consensus best bet for 2011 just as you have argued. The only argument against him was the amount of compensation we gave up. 2011 obviously didn't pan out. So we went for Peyton. Clearly also the...

Seahawks 58 Cardinals 0: Post Game Thoughts

I'm not pining my hopes on Lindley. I just don't think that you can judge a QB on his rookie season. Kurt Warner refused to go into a Packers scrimmage because he didn't know the playbook well enough, which put him in the Arena Football League, etc. I will tell you this though: I would take...

Seahawks 58 Cardinals 0: Post Game Thoughts

The QB and the receiver have to make the same sight adjustment. Two very simple examples of this are (i) on a cover 2 zone, you never run an out pattern because the CB is rolled up and (ii) also in a zone, on underneath crossing patterns, the receiver must settle down the pattern in the soft...

Seahawks 58 Cardinals 0: Post Game Thoughts

Lindley has all the talent in the world, and he can make every throw in the playbook. The first quarter against the Rams taught us that. But that does not an NFL quarterback make. He can't make the pre-snap reads/adjustments yet, and his decisionmaking is too slow, then he gets flustered...

Seahawks 58 Cardinals 0: Post Game Thoughts

Good Point I have faulted Grimm for much our troubles. But our improved tackle play is actually a reason for hope next year. When Levi's back, there will be depth and/or a trade opportunity to improve another position.

Seahawks 58 Cardinals 0: Post Game Thoughts

With all due respect John Skelton is not a starting NFL quarterback, and he will have the same position in the NFL next year as Max Hall does this year. Ryan Lindley may be an NFL QB some day, but he's still not prepared mentally. I give Skelton all of the credit in the world for having the...

Whis...things are not as they seem

It's funny Coach Whiz took us to the Super Bowl. He did it with a defensive coordinator he didn't want, and a castaway quarterback that no one else wanted. The castaway turned back to superstar status then retired a year early leaving us with a huge vacuum. I, for one, fully supported his...

John Skelton if you read this

College Stats Kurt Warner's college completion rate was about 57%. Lindley's was 55.5%. When Lindley throws in rhythm, like Warner, he is an accurate passer and will be more accurate with time and reps. I think that Skelton has moxie, can be clutch, but is inconsistent with his footwork...

John Skelton if you read this

I haven't given up on Lindley But I have on Skelton. The game has slowed down for Skelton because he knows the scheme, the reads, etc., but he cannot throw an accurate ball. For Lindley, the game is still way too fast, he doesn't have enough knowledge/confidence, and his throws are primarily...

Cutting Kolb, Levi, Bradley and Snyder...

You Can't Answer This Question Without Knowing The Alternatives 1. Levi -- Right now, I would say we need two tackles to replace those starting now. Levi is on the roster and would be one of the two. For all of his faults, he has totally outperformed Baptiste and Massie. I highly doubt we...

    The lost unit...Offense

I'm liking Kolb more and more He has improved significantly. He is hanging in the pocket much longer, his footwork has improved (but needs much more). I liken this version of Kolb to the 2006 version of Kurt Warner (and Warner with the Giants for that matter). When he is throwing on rhythm...

    Rob Housler

Housler Presents serious match-up problems. He's too fast for a LB or safety, too tall for corners (and then who covers Fitz?). As long as he is a passable blocker, he will be a serious weapon. They just haven't figured out how to use him yet because they've never had anything like him.

    Call Me A Contrarian

I thought that game was a step forward for Kolb and the team. Kolb (particularly in the first half) threw the ball with significantly more zip, was more decisive, and improved his footwork (don't get me wrong, there is still much, much more work to be done). The pass protection this game was...

    Whisenhunt

I disagree Our roster is not a championship roster; far from it. This year was supposed to be a step back toward respectability in a very week division. If we were in virtually any other division, respectability would still be far away. We have two major problems: OL and OLB (particularly...

Three Throws That Gave Me Hope

After watching Leinart excel at checkdowns and short routes but loft intermediate throws that get receivers killed (see pre-season game), and after watching DA do just the opposite, Hall was just what we needed. 1. The deep out was perfectly timed to Fitz. 2. The slant perfectly...
