    He’s 5 years older than Kyler was in his first start and has, what 50-60 games under his belt with 45 starts in college? If anything he might be the most prepared in NFL history to start game 1.

    David Boston’s best year was his third one. This is Marvin’s third. For a lot of bigger WRs, that third year is the pivot point for their careers. MHJ strikes me as a rhythm player and I didn’t ever really see him get into a rhythm with Kyler. I have grounded hopes for him to have a good season...

    Nah, it was time. The team had a similar win/loss record with Kyler to the 1990s Cardinals. I never want to live through this again. Let's go with Beck for this year and if he's not it, let's draft a QB next year. But Kyler is not it.

    IIRC his arm was injured and he played through it. He recently said the muscle had detached from the bone.

    Agreed 100%. It’s really good for Beck’s development that we get the extra preseason game this year. It’s still preseason and I wouldn’t put too much stock into it since we’re not game planning heavily, but I’m hoping he gets some time against actual NFL players to get used to the speed...

    Beck has had more college starts than Murray and Rosen combined, and he took two teams deep into the playoffs. He was a bad throw away from a national title against the top pick in the draft this year. Plus he’s putting in the time and effort from all accounts that Rosen and Murray were known...

    I don’t know that I see the maturity issue. He’s had to deal with adversity for sure. I feel like compared to the last 4 starting QBs we drafted and started (Murray, Rosen, Skelton, and Leinart), Beck seems to be the most composed and self-aware of them.

    I think he goes to the Jets too. If Monty is truly on the hot seat this year, then I think the Cards put in a 2nd or 3rd round bid for him. But I don't think he is, he had what appears to be a solid draft. I think almost every team will put in a 4th round pick.

    My only real concern with him is arm strength. He floats a lot of balls and i just wish they'd get there with a little more zip on the ball. I hope the injury is fully healed and he can really place it this year. Time will tell.

    Injuries in this sport are severe and this sucks. I feel for the kid. At the same time this is such an upgrade to have a coach sit down and talk through things like this openly. JG would have never let on the severity of the injury and we'd all be left guessing for weeks.

    With as good as the NFC west is this year and with as stacked our schedule is, I want to be competitive, but I want answers at QB. Ideally in my mind, Beck starts after a few games into the regular season and we see what he has. Jacoby and Gardner are nice backups, nothing more.
