Do you mean the Cavs will ask the Celtics to sweeten the deal? Isn't it the Cavs return that is losing value?

    2016-17 Around the NBA

I don't bash them for it. Especially for a local, he handled his departure there with as little class as is possible short of actually insulting the city. Honestly, were I a Cavs fan I'd still much rather have won a championship without him.

    Kyrie

You're totally right about the playoff revenue from the owner's perspective. I'm sure more owners than we'd like would take 5 losing finals appearances over a championship. But maybe I'm just being cynical. In Cleveland's case, it's all about LeBron, and I just wonder who he'd prefer at PG...

New Suns Uniforms to be Released Today (8/10)

The original font has a cool Art Deco feel, and it IS the original. I'm looking forward to them.

New Suns Uniforms to be Released Today (8/10)

More purple and mo gray = an improvement. But I'm particularly glad about the classic fifth jersey. I love the western font best, but prefer the originals over the 90s.

    Kyrie

No one is disagreeing that the Cavs have an inside track to the finals. But injuries could also happen to the Cavs. LeBron has never been injured but it's not guaranteed. Kyrie himself could get injured - then he'd be untradable for a while, which is probably his worst fear. Plus there's no...

    Kyrie

Agree. You don't want to be in Cleveland post-LeBron, and it's in Kyrie's best interest to leave early at this point: -Next year he has one season left on his contract and no one will trade for him without an extension in the works. This year he has more options, or at least more competition to...

    Kyrie

I was thinking about that, too, but it's a bigger risk for the Suns than a team that's looking for playoff wins (and revenue) in the meantime. Most likely every team is just going to be waiting for the Suns to try to move him.

prediction time: What happens with Kyrie Irving?

I think we're going to be looking for another PG in two years regardless, so there's no point in giving up assets in the meantime. If Ulis were just a little better now I'd be advocating for trading Bledsoe for an expiring and more picks.

Well that should be all she wrote, then. We're certainly not looking for a rental.

    All time past-their-prime Suns team

I'd put Hawkins (high up) on this list. He was still great when he came to Phoenix, but the whole NBA missed out on his prime, so in a way I think you put him at the top of this list to acknowledge how great he would have been in the NBA. I'm proud the Suns were the team that got his best NBA years.

    Knight Suffers ACL Tear

Weirdly, right now I'm inclined to look on the bright side. There are actually a lot of other bad moves that could have happened in the time BK has been a Sun. I'm not saying it was a good move (it was terrible) or that it literally prevented something else, but I'm sure we would have had...

    2016-17 Around the NBA

The thread just got pretty interesting. I'm still not sold on the move, but comparing the pre-LeBron II Cavs and the LeBron-on-the-bench Cavs to where I hope the Suns will be in a couple years... What the Cavs really have missed the last couple years is a second unit leader, but I also think...

The Pottsville Curse: Is It Really A Curse?

It's not s curse because most people don't know about it and nobody cares about it except the Pottsville historical society. The Red Sox and Cubs "curses" actually played into their psychology. They and their fans were defeatist at times, and their opponents felt they could capitalize, or had...

    2016-17 Around the NBA

I'd rather see a facilitator at PG, and one who plays a little defense, but I also understand that this doesn't mean Kyrie sucks because he's not that. He made the most important shot in a finals win against a historically great opponent. It's reported that LeBron is 'devastated' by the trade...

    "Significant announcement" @ 11a

I think they're different situations. The average fan of other teams considered the Cardinals a laughingstock at the time. This has never been my experience as a Suns fan living in other NBA cities. If anything the one thing the casual fan knows is that they're extremely young. Also, while I...

    "Significant announcement" @ 11a

I guess the reaction is, if you want him gone you refuse to credit the announcement of his extension as significant? Seems to me an extension is actually quite significant to someone who want him gone...

    Thanks for everything Shane Doan!

The Coyotes really screwed this up if they have any intention of staying in the Valley. They could have explored transitioning Doan to another role in the organization. They could have offered a final farewell year at a reduced contract. Doan might not have been interested in either, but the...

    free agent options

I agree. I was intrigued by Griffin + Suns training staff, but for a team in the Suns position the trade deadline is the bigger opportunity. I know everyone is sick of waiting but the wrong signings now will just lead to more waiting. Or back to the treadmill. Waiting a little longer isn't the...

Clippers Blake Griffin Opts out of contract

In this case, though, LMA signed there. It's not like he was drafted and just never liked it. Plus he would have played there many times in the western conference. Doesn't mean you're right. It just seems more like he hasn't bought into the SA organization and culture ultimately.

Clippers Blake Griffin Opts out of contract

I'll just take Blake's comment about liking PHX (among others) at face value. So he's putting possible destinations out there - we haven't been getting mentioned that way so much in recent years. But even if it feels like a Suns training staff reclamation, it probably won't come at a discount...

    McD Sabatoged Ainge

I don't care so much about the sabotage, but am happy to hear that Jackson was sold on the Suns, if true. He didn't seem particularly ecstatic on TV last night, something which Bill Simmons commented on as well. Just speculation of course.

    NBA draft picks trade rumors

I wonder if Griffin's departure has something to do with this – i.e. LeBron wanting Cleveland to go all-in for this upcoming season while reserving the right to remain noncommittal about his own future.

    NBA draft picks trade rumors

I thought LeBron's wife was one of the big factors in him returning to Ohio...? Not questioning your post, just that this seems like a quick change of mind. If you're choosing Cleveland over Miami, wanting LA over Cleveland doesn't seem obvious.

    Target JACKSON

Ha, nice one. I'd like Neal Walk, Rick Robey, Hot Rod Williams, and Brandon Knight.
