    If the Lakers beat the Suns, they would automatically get the 8th seed, while the Suns would have to play another game to get the 7th seed? This doesn't seem fair or am I reading this wrong?

    Exactly. It's become painfully obvious the cannot hang with the young, athletic teams that can run. They can only beat the big, slow teams, ie, Nuggets. All they need is a couple of young players added. Right now they play old and slow.
