Cardinals at the 5 yd line
Luvu throws Connor to the ground and gets flagged for Unnecessary Roughness, Hernandez then gets flagged/ejected for bumping an official. The Ref announced, “ there are 2 fouls”.
Why was the ball placed at the 18 yd line? In this situation shouldn’t offsetting penalties be a replay of the last down/location?

Contact with an official is a 15 yard penalty and it doesn't offset. It overrules all.

3 people ran into the ref on that play, Hernandez and 2 panthers after.... that ref is a prima donna who was making the game about him.

every time he was on the mic he looked super angry, he's the weirdest ref out there

Yup. Total BS call - especially since the Panthers started it and were guilty of the same thing

Can’t find it in the NFL rule book.
It just says
1) offsetting penalties are enforced as a replay of down from the prior spot.
2) contact with official is an automatic ejection.
3) ejection/ disqualification enforced regardless if penalties offset.

Glad I’m not the only one who noticed how dramatic and weird he was.

Your answer is #3 above.

I was able to find it. Penalties offset unless there is a disqualification, just like you mentioned in 3).

More than one Panther ended up bumping the official and they weren’t pushed into him. Horrible call. Hernandez sticking up for his teammate is natural reaction.

Not really it doesn’t say anything about the yardage it just says the ejection will be enforced regardless??? Not very clear sounds like the yardage should have still offset at least imo… Clearly the Connor occurred and was called.

It does.

DEAD BALL FOULS Article 8 Dead ball fouls by both teams are offset at the succeeding spot and the down counts, except when one or both are disqualifying fouls, or as provided in 14-1-9. See 14-3-2.

To clarify.... the 15 yard penatly by lulu lemon was enforced half the distance to the goal THEN the 15 yard penatly for Hernandez was enforced as a dead ball foul bringing it back to the 18 yard line. Hope that helps!
